As part of the larger 200-seat Cafeteria project a Demonstration Kitchen on the edge of the Cafeteria is used to teach healthy cooking, with live demonstrations to patients with nutrition and diet concerns. Classes vary from patient specific classes like high calorie nutrition dense meals for patients going through cancer treatment to preparation and technique classes to educate community members around ingredients that they are unfamiliar with and my receive from the food pantry.
The kitchen program works in conjunction with BMC’s Food Pantry program, one of the oldest in the US, that provides free groceries to patients and community members in need to encourage a healthy lifestyle.
