Sophia Snow House combines 36 resident rooms of a Level IV Rest Home with 66 units of independent living for the elderly in a single community building. A challenging site required a two phase project: an addition to the existing rest home large enough to relocate residents, and a demolition of the 1950’s rest home and construction of an the other half of the project. Maintaining accessible accommodations at all times was a key consideration. The one-bedroom independent living apartments feature a unique layout where a den can double up as a guest room when necessary. Each occupancy has a designated front entrance and is served by a single centrally located administrative desk.
