Geer Village is a mixed occupancy retirement complex sharing a large rural site with other institutional care facilities of the Geer Corporation. It consists of 33 independent living apartments, 59 assisted living units, and a 30-resident dementia unit, supported by lounges, libraries, participation kitchens and activity rooms. Led by the visionary owner, Geer also attracted and integrated numerous amenities not often found in senior living arrangements, such as a local cable TV broadcast studio, a bistro concession, a YMCA with pool and fitness center, and public assembly spaces. The intent was to make Geer Village a community center for the town of Canaan, where seniors continue to be an integral part of community life.
